This may not be new for some.

In December 2014, IAEA published a Training Guidelines in Non-destructive Testing Techniques (IAEA-TECDOC-628/Rev. 3). The content has been revised in light of the issuance of EN ISO 9712:2012. This document is a part of work conducted by the International Committee for Non-Destructive Testing (ICNDT) and many national NDT societies, including MSNT (read Foreward). It is one of the publications referred to in ISO 9712:2005, Non-destructive Testing: Qualification and Certification of Personnel, which in turn is an internationally accepted standard, revised as ISO 9712:2012, Non-destructive Testing: Qualification and Certification of NDT Personnel.

In Malaysia, Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK, [Department of Skills Development, DSD]) is the ISO 9712 based Certification Body and was accredited to ISO 17024 (Conformity assessment — General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons) in 2012. This is inline with para 5.2.1 of ISO 9712:2012 on Certification Body which says “The certification body shall fulfil the requirements of ISO/IEC 17024”.
