Malaysia has solidified its position as a global leader in the field of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) through the active contributions of Agensi Nuklear Malaysia and the expertise of renowned professionals like Dr. Ilham Mukriz Zainal Abidin, President of the Malaysian Society for Non-Destructive Testing (MSNT), and Dr. Mohd Noorul Ikhsan Mohamed@Ahmad.
Their efforts were pivotal in shaping the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)’s groundbreaking publication on training syllabi for Non-Destructive Testing in Civil Engineering (NDT-CE).
This initiative provides a harmonized framework for training and certifying NDT professionals worldwide, aligning with ISO/TS 25107:2019 standards. The guidelines will enhance global capabilities in inspecting and maintaining civil structures, particularly during and after catastrophic events.
Dr. Ilham Mukriz emphasized the significance of Malaysia’s role, stating: “Our contribution to this publication reflects Malaysia’s growing expertise in NDT and our commitment to international collaboration for safer, more resilient infrastructure.”
The involvement of Malaysian experts highlights the nation’s dedication to technological innovation, capacity building, and advancing global safety standards in civil engineering.
